As we step fully into 2026, I’ve been reflecting on what 2025 showed us at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Barrie & District. At its core, in reinforced something simple and powerful: relationships matter – and they change lives.

Last year, nearly 200 youth were supported through our mentoring relationships rooted in consistency, trust, and genuine connection. These weren’t just program outcomes. They were moments of being seen. Of believed in. Of having one steady person who kept showing up.

That kind of impact only happens because of people.

Our volunteers continue to offer something increasingly rare: their time, their presence, and their care. Week after week, they choose connection- and the difference they make is real. We are celebrating what 2026 has yet to come with our new mentoring video that captures beautifully the essence and impact of mentorship on everyone involved. Reflecting the heart of mentoring not as intervention, but as true relationship. We look forward to celebrating this with the community throughout the year ahead as we forge new relationships and reinforce and deepen current ones.

I’m also deeply grateful for the supporters and partners who stood with us throughout 2025. Your belief in this work allows us to stay responsive, grounded, and focused on what matters most- young people and their potential.

As we look ahead, the need for mentoring hasn’t eased. If anything, it’s clearer than ever. And so is our commitment. We’re moving into 2026 with intention, momentum, and a deep sense of responsibility to the young people who are counting on us.
