I joined the board of BBBS for an opportunity to fulfil a goal. That goal was simply to make a difference in my community. I have been fortunate throughout my adult life to reach incremental success in my work endeavors and it was time for me to get involved in the community. The BBBS board is a small and involved board. We are all focused on the same thing – building on the foundational strength of the organization so they can continue to serve youth in our community well into the future. This matches very well with my personal vision. I enjoy attending our fundraisers and take a lot of satisfaction from being an in-school mentor. Although this is not a requirement, the one hour/week gives me a chance to see who we really work for. At the end of the day it is the thought of making a small but profoundly positive impact on a young developing child’s mind that really gets me excited about what we do at BBBS.
